Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep

Main Protagonists                                                     9/24/2012

Ventus (Ven)

Ventus, also called Ven by his friends, he is best friends with Aqua and Terra, and he is the youngest out of the three. He wields a keyblade only he holds it in a reverse manor then previous heroes that we have seen, and he is quick in speed. He is very upbeat unlike his look-alike Roxas from Kingdom Hearts II. (There is a big difference between the two characters, do not get confused!) He has never been to any outside of the worlds and has always stayed in the Land Of Departure. Ergo, he is very innocent. He has a suit of armor which he can activate by hitting the piece of armor he has on his left shoulder. His clothes look to be mix of Sora's and Roxas's in KHII. He has Roxas's checkered bracelet and a turtle-neck shirt under his outfit.

 ***Spoiler***

Ventus used to be the apprentice of Master Xehanort. Ventus was afraid to release the darkness inside his heart, so Master Xehanort stabbed him with his keyblade and separated the darkness and light from Ventus. From there Vanitas was born. He is a part of Ventus and is pure darkness. He wants to fight Ventus so that the "X-Blade" (The blade is forged when one pure of light and one pure of darkness clash in battle) will be forged and a new Keyblade War begins. After defeating Vanitas (which also means Ventus has to sacrifice himself as well) Ventus's heart finds his way into our little hero Sora who is in Destiny Islands. In Sora's heart, Ventus (With a fractured/broken heart) asks to stay with Sora to recover within him. Being friends, Sora accepts him and Ventus enters. Ever since that, Ventus has been asleep and has not woken up.

 ***Fan Theory***

Since Sora not only had his heart but Ventus's heart too, it is believed that when Sora sacrificed himself in Kingdom Hearts I, that Ventus's heart had also escaped. Where did it go to, you might ask? Well, fans think that his heart could have escaped in Sora's Nobody Roxas. That is most likely the reason why the two boys looks so much alike (Ventus's heart influenced Roxas's apperaence). So maybe the whole time in 358/2 Days Roxas did have a heart and feelings. Especially when he started crying over Xion's death and other sad moments. Fans also say the only reason that the Keyblade chose Sora before he proved himself was because he has conncetions to Ventus.

Aqua

Aqua holds the power of strong magic and she is very wise.  She passes the Mark of Mastery exam and she is titled officially Master in the beginning of the game. Aqua is ordered to bring Ventus back to The Land Of Departure and to keep watch of Terra so that he is not controlled by darkness. During her time in different worlds, she meets the same masked boy that approached Ventus in his room. Aqua is the character that gets stuck with the last bosses in each world. For example, Maleficent in her dragon form (Enchanted Dominion), the titans in Olympus and the Mirror in Snow White.

Aqua also wears a turtle neck shirt with no sleeves, the sleeves are separate and begin a little after her shoulder. She also wears black shorts and black thigh highs. She wears gloves that can me visible in cutscenes that only reach to the knuckles (color gray or so).

Aqua meets little Sora and Riku and compares them to Terra and Ventus. She feels the power of a keyblade wielder in Riku and she decides that "one keyblade is enough for any friendship."

***Spoiler***

After the players get all the reports from Xehanort, they get to play the fianl episode that only Aqua plays. This takes after the game and it is when Land of Departure is turned into a protective place to sleep for Ventus. We know this as Castle Oblivion. Only Aqua knows the way to Ventus. This was the reason that Xemnas wanted Organization members to research at Castle Oblivion (CO) to find the room that Ventus is sleeping in (Kingdom Hearts BBS Final Mix). Ventus sleeps in the Room of Awakening. The Room of Sleep is under Ansem's lab (KH2) and Aqua's armor lies there after the scenes in the Final  Episode. After fighting the Terra who is possessed by Xehanort (Terranort) she falls into darkness with Terra. In order to save Terra she sacrifices herself and she stays in the Realm of Darkness where hopefully someone can save her.

Terra

Terra is a character that depends on his strength and brute to fight (which comes in handy) but, do to that he is a slow character and could get hit easily if not careful. He failed the Mark of Mastery exam against Aqua, but he has been given another chance by Eraqus. He wears a turtle neck shirt that has short sleeves and long caramel fluffy pants. He has his trusty armor on his left arm that he uses to take flight.

Terra deals with many complications in different worlds (not as much as Aqua). He seems to be caught in the middle to be always influenced by the darkness. villains influence him like (some) Maleficent and Hades.Motly he is tricked by Xehanort so badly, that he turns on his own Master to a fight. This causes the destruction of their home town. Later, it is revealed that he is to be used as a vessel for Xehanort.Terra's soul trys to fight back, but is conqured by Xehanort.

***Spoilers***

Even though it may not exactly be Terra, Terra is still in there. It is shown in KH2FM that Xigbar finds Xemnas talking to himself in his room with another voice present yet he comes out alone. Remember that Xemnas is a Nobody to Xehanort and he shares Terra's feelings. It is also shown in 358/2 Days where Xemnas watches Roxas sleeps and says "he sleeps again". he refers to Ventus since Roxas looks like him and he shows at times Terra's feelings.

Before It All Started

Cover Art

Before Sora even became a keyblade  bearer, there were three heroes and friends. Ventus, Aqua, and Terra live in a world called "Land of Departure". Our adventure begins depending which character the player decides to pick. I started off with Ventus, Terra, and finally Aqua. If you want to start off easy Ventus is your choice. Besides that, all of the characters start by coming together to watch a meteor shower outside of the castle. United, Aqua presents them with a charm that is called a "Wayfinder," for all three to keep. The wayfinders are good luck charms for the Mark of Mastery exam (Ven receives one, but he is not to be tested). Aqua talks about a tree with "star shaped fruit" and that with that fruit, friends and loved ones can never be drived apart. They share the same dream: to be come Masters of the Keyblade. But on that night, it was the last time they looked at the stars together.
(Left to Right) Ventus, Terra, Aqua

The following day comes the great exam. With Ventus on the sidelines watching, Aqua and Terra are ready for the exam. Present, is a man named Xahanort (also a master) sitting examining Eraqus' (Ven's, Aqua's and Terra's master) pupils. Eraqus summoned balls of light for the exam, but suddenly the balls are shadowed by darkness. One of the balls goes towards Ventus and he easily destroys it. He joins to fight the shadowed balls (but is still not part of the exam). When the battle is over, Terra and Aqua fight one-on-one. Terra hides his darkness after Aqua almost got a strike on him. Xahanort notices and smiles with sinister. In the end of the exam, Aqua passes and Terra failed.

Here is where the scenes change depending the character that the player chose in the begging of the game. List of what happens (in short).
Land of Departure

Ventus: He sees a masked boy in his room, and he tells Ventus that Terra is leaving him behind and he can't do anything about it when he's "looking at nothing, but what's in his tiny world". The masked boy disappears and Ventus has a flashback of Terra. Worried for his friend, Ventus leaves to find him.Even though Terra tells him to stay home, he leaves chasing after Terra.

Aqua: She and Terra is informed by Eraqus of enemies that goes by the name of "Unversed." They are ordered to defeat any darkness that threats light. When Terra leaves, she is asked to watch Terra and if his darkness is too great to handle, she must bring him home. She and Eraqus sees Ventus leaving their world, Eraqus orders Aqua to bring him back home immediately.

Terra: Eraqus gives him another chance to prove himself worthy of a Master by defeating and stopping darkness and the Unversed. He leaves before Aqua ready to leave his world explore others. He sees Ventus and tells him to stay home when he asks if he could join. He leaves with a smile.
